In the diverse society of Taiwan, the Hakka community and their unique culture is a vital part of the population. With years of human migration and historical changes, how much do we truly understand about the Hakka and their traditions?

Today's Taiwan is committed to becoming a part of the global community, and the Hakka community in Taiwan hopes to share their story with Hakka people who have migrated to different corners of the world, to create a global representation of the Hakka community. Through the platform of TAIWANfest Toronto, our Hakka friends from Taiwan warmly welcome everyone.

In this Hakka Pavilion, experience a Hakka summer camp! Learn the art of Hakka mugwort dyeing, brew a cup of Lei Cha, sing along to mountain songs, practice speaking the Hakka language, and enjoy Hakka tea and snacks. Visit the past and present of the Hakka people through our special Hope Talks and catch a performance by Taiwan’s King of Hakka Pop, Wing Lo. Reflect on themes of transience and belonging with artworks by renowned Hakka painter Chang Chiu-tai, and discover the contemporary perspectives of young Hakka fashion designers.
