About the Program
At the peak of his choreography career, Bulareyaung felt lost. He returned to his hometown, Taitung, to work with young Indigenous performers, creating art inspired by their lives. These mostly untrained dancers pursued their dreams in their homeland, and their free-spirited personalities reminded him of his own youth. Surrounded by dancers who feel like family, childhood friends, and a disapproving father, he gradually realizes that returning to his Indigenous community through dance rekindles the child within him.
This screening will be followed by a Q&A with producer HUANG Yu Fang on Zoom.
Wang Cheng Yi graduated from the Applied Media Arts at National Taiwan University of Arts. Short films "Please Insert Coins" and "The Good Days" were nominated for the Taipei Film Festival's Theme Award and Colden Harvest Award. Focusing on documentary cinematography work in recent years, and "Dancing Home" is his first feature-length documentary as a director.
