“There will always be people who understand why we do this—use this to give others courage and help people feel less lonely and more understood. Even if it only brings about a small change, the world will already be different.”
There’s always a rainbow flag on P!SCO’s stage—it represents the belief they want to convey.
This talk by members of the Taiwanese indie band P!SCO will share how they use music and live performances to create a welcoming space for the LGBTQ+ community and people of diverse genders. Through this exchange, gain a new understanding of how Taiwan’s younger generation continues to foster dialogue about gender, diversity, and community relationships within music culture.

Formed in Taipei in 2010, P!SCO has been dubbed by fans as “the rock band that pushes physical endurance to the absolute limit.” In 2016, they were nominated for the Golden Indie Music Awards for Best Live Performance.
Their eclectic sound fuses rock, electronic, and classical elements, defying easy categorization. Non-stop performances keep the energy relentless, with no dull moments. At every show, they hang a rainbow flag onstage to show support for the LGBT community and marginalized groups.
Their 2019 single “Teary Eyes” depicts the pain of childhood bullying due to sexual orientation and questioning one’s identity; it racked up impressive streaming numbers online, solidifying their rainbow identity.
