Saudade — a word with no direct translation, yet deeply understood. It speaks of longing, of memories that drift across time and sea.
Tides of Saudade is a cello ensemble performance exploring migration, memory, and cultural connection between Portugal, Taiwan, and Canada — performed by a dynamic ensemble where seasoned musicians and rising young cellists share the stage.
The journey flows from cinematic adventure (Pirates of the Caribbean, Coimbra), through reflections on love and saudade (Sodade, Rainy Night Flower, Amar pelos Dois), and into bold reinvention (Palladio, Libertango, Tico-Tico no Fubá).
With music that spans continents and generations, this concert weaves story and sound into one expressive experience.
EnCello Toronto is all about bringing people together through music. We’re a cello ensemble that combines performances with innovative music education. Our focus is on creating a space where professional musicians and apprentices can collaborate, learn, and grow together. It’s not just about the music—it’s about connecting people, creating opportunities and building a community.
